New Co-Heads of Echelon Capital Markets Launch Re-Brand of Full-Service Investment Banking Platform focused on Canada’s Middle Market

Toronto, ON May 26, 2020 – As part of its commitment to the corporate community, Echelon Wealth Partners has created a distinct brand for its capital markets division, now known as Echelon Capital Markets. As part of the launch of the re-brand, Echelon Capital Markets has also created a premier, full-service investment banking platform to support Canada’s mid-market corporate community. At the onset of the pandemic, Echelon Wealth Partners announced the appointment of Karanjit Bhugra and Asad Said as Co-Heads of its capital markets division in a strategic move to deliver a holistic solution to the middle market.

Karanjit joined Echelon Capital Markets from Deloitte's Corporate Finance practice where he was responsible for sourcing and leading the execution of M&A and capital advisory transactions on behalf of Canadian middle-market firms. His focus was on providing clients with tailored strategic advice and guidance that they can trust, whether they were considering an acquisition, divestiture, or a critical financing.  He has over 15 years of experience in investment banking and structured finance with companies including BMO Capital Markets and Roynat Capital (a Scotiabank company).

Most recently, Asad was a Managing Director at Deloitte Corporate Finance where he focused on origination and execution of M&A and capital advisory mandates.  He has over 15 years of investment banking, capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, and corporate development experience at Scotia Capital, Scotiabank and National Bank Financial.    He has been involved in over 100 multi-billion dollar and middle-market transactions, including buy-side and sell-side M&A advisory, strategic advisory, debt advisory, restructuring advisory, initial public offerings and follow-on equity financings for clients in a wide variety of industries.  He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and an HBA from Ivey Business School.
