New Co-Heads of Echelon Capital Markets Launch Re-Brand of Full-Service Investment Banking Platform focused on Canada’s Middle Market

Toronto, ON May 26, 2020 – As part of its commitment to the corporate community, Echelon Wealth Partners has created a distinct brand for its capital markets division, now known as Echelon Capital Markets. As part of the launch of the re-brand, Echelon Capital Markets has also created a premier, full-service investment banking platform to support Canada’s mid-market corporate community. Its combined offerings present clear advantages for prospective and existing clients, including delivering a one-stop approach to the balance sheet and advisory needs for corporate clients.

At the onset of the pandemic, Echelon Wealth Partners announced the appointment of Karanjit Bhugra and Asad Said as Co-Heads of its capital markets division in a strategic move to deliver a holistic solution to the middle market.

“The Capital Markets platform within Echelon presents a unique value proposition for the Canadian middle-market community. This, coupled with Echelon's entrepreneurial spirit, resonates with clients, and we are excited to participate in its next stage of growth,” said Karanjit Bhugra, Co-Head, Echelon Capital Partners.

Echelon believes that there are significant opportunities in the Canadian mid-market investment banking space, including offering companies a full-suite of capital raising (both equity and debt), as well as strategic advisory services.  In addition to its existing strength in delivering equity capital markets solutions, Echelon will bolster its capital markets offering by enhancing M&A advisory, restructuring advisory, and debt advisory solutions. The platform will now also cater to both publicly-traded and privately-held companies to reflect its intention to be a full-service platform for the entire middle market. The firm has identified six industries of immediate focus — mining, real estate, healthcare, cannabis, financial services, and technology— to ensure robust and diversified coverage that will serve its clients across all seasons and business cycles.

Karanjit and Asad, each have over 15 years’ experience in corporate finance in various capital markets’ roles among the top financial institutions in Canada including major banks such as BMO Capital Markets and Scotia Capital, as well as Deloitte Corporate Finance. “With their combined experience, Asad and Karanjit, bring a vibrant vision of expansion and best-in-class advice to clients with a history of entrepreneurial success,” states David Cusson, CEO, Echelon Wealth Partners.

Even with closures stemming from the coronavirus pandemic, Echelon Capital Markets is forging ahead with new initiatives, new products and services to become Canada's foremost full-service advisor in the middle market. “Since joining Echelon over the past 3 months, we have heard from dozens of our clients that are looking for a full-service solution for their financial advisory needs. Our new spectrum of offerings is our attempt to answer the call of these valued clients and offer them trusted advice during these troubled and uncertain times,” states Asad Said, Co-Head, Echelon Capital Partners.
